Rotary Student Program Club Founder and Chair, Jackie Huie
Promoted by Rotary International, the Rotary Student Program is designed to help high school students explore career interests before making important decisions on college and career. Hosted by Rotarians, high school participants meet with professionals in reverse interview settings, gaining the unique opportunity to personally ask key questions, explore career dreams and verify or redirect interests. Coordinated by well-networked Rotarians, the sky is the limit for meeting connections created from CEOs of major corporations to small business owners, surgeons to architects, sports legends to best-selling authors. Sponsored and organized by Rotary, ‘RYLA’ is an intensive three-day retreat to help students develop skills as leaders, while having fun and making connections. At a retreat hosted by the Battle Creek Outdoor Center, students work on communication and problem-solving skills, learn from community leaders and peer mentors, learn more about Rotary, and build lasting relationships with like-minded young adults. Rotary Youth Exchange
Rotary Youth Exchange
Rotary Youth Exchange is a Rotary International exchange program for students in secondary school. Since 1929, Rotary International has sent young people around the globe to experience new cultures. About 9,000 students are sponsored by Rotary clubs every year. Participants travel to another country and live with multiple host families for up to a year, learning about another culture, attending school and becoming a member the families, helping with chores and everyday life.
Interact Club and Dominican Republic
Supported by Rotary International, Interact Club is one of the world’s oldest and fastest growing youth organizations comprised of 469,000 members representing 159 countries. Working with Rotary Advisors, members gain a deeper understanding of global needs, provide a valuable service to their community and the world, learn about teamwork and gain leadership skills. Sponsored school Districts include Our Lady of the Lakes and St. Joseph Public Schools. Every summer, members have travel to impoverished Haitian villages in La Romana, Dominican Republic, to provide education and medical support and build homes.
